A PROPOSAL OF THE WATER TRANSPORT IN THE COAST OF DURRES

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to analyse in detail the function of one of the most important economic industries in Durres. As we know Durres is well known as one of the biggest harbour cities in the Balkans. But what happens if we add a new concept to it? However, in difference to the other port cities, the harbour even though it is the most important economy it lacks infrastructure. To supply this lack, there is the need to draft the idea of water transportation as a new means of circulation benefit and maybe in a future plan, shape an early idea for an alternative water highway. It aim to incorporate a trip that goes from the city of Durres, down to Kavaja and up again in Bishti Palles. The sole idea is to engage the people, not only the tourists who got used to comming every year, but firstly the individuals and families that live in Durres, Kavaja, or throughout Albania’s coastal lines. Easing the city’s users’ experience in circulatin through their seas, their lands and their places boosting not only the economy but even the quality of their everyday life and cultural identity. This will give a new approach on the architecture panel that will have as a center focus the weak infrastructure and economic solvings.
