Abstract:
On May 18, 2025, Prof Arta Musaraj, founder and editor-in-chief of Academicus International Scientific Journal, passed away after a long battle with cancer at 50 years-old. She was a distinguished Albanian academic, scholar, professor, and civil activist. Dean of faculties, vice-rector and rector in various universities in Albania with a career of almost 30 years, she was the first woman to regain the position of Founding Rector of a University in Albania. She gained experience in several prestigious universities in the world where she was a lecturer and member of scientific councils, for 12 years in the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, "La Sapienza" in Rome, Italy, and actively collaborated as a scientific collaborator with numerous academic journals in the world. From January to September 2013, Prof. Dr. Arta Musaraj was Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania. In 2012, on the occasion of the centenary of the Albanian State, she was selected among the 100 most renowned Albanian women of all time. She has received numerous academic and civil honorary titles. Winner of the Socrates Prize for Science, awarded by the Oxford Academy, Great Britain in 2012. Silver Medal awarded by Rector Eugenio Gaudi of the University "La Sapienza" Rome Italy for extraordinary scientific values in 2015. Gratitude of the University of Vlora, Albania in 2019 and Recognition of the University Ismail Qemali, Albania in 2004. Honorary Citizen of the District of Vlore, Albania in 2013, Honor of the Municipality of Brataj, 2013. Gratitude of the City of Vlore 2012, awarded by the Mayor of the Municipality of Vlore. Protagonist of civic life, 2010, awarded by the Municipality of Vlore, Albania. Arta Musaraj has returned to her home, to God. The scientific journal Academicus ISJ founded and directed by her, a window always open for science, will challenge the times forever.
