Abstract:
This study investigated the role of shared leadership in effectiveness of teams in health care
sector. The research was performed by conducting both vertical leadership and shared
leadership in 17 public and private health care teams as assessed from two sources; team
leaders and team members. Team effectiveness was measured as well from the viewpoints of
the two sources. Using statistical analysis, team effectiveness was found to be significantly
predicted by both vertical leadership and shared leadership, but in a broader aspect by the
second one in its three constructs; shared transactional leadership, shared transformational
leadership, and shared empowering leadership.
